Semester One Fitness Courses: open to all NUS undergraduates, graduates and staff

Participants are advised not to over-exert themselves during exercise!

IMPT!: Please note that the last session of LatinoRobics (Mon, 1 Nov) and Yogilatez (Thurs, 4 Nov) will be shifted from staff club dance studio to the aquarius room beside SUN bistro.

Note:

a) We’re opening a new Pilates class at SRC Dance Studio 6-7pm on Tuesday.

b) Class starts in week 2 and comprises 10 sessions, except for Kickboxing which has only 6 sessions due to MPSH2 booking by YOG; Cardio Aerobics and ABT  which has only 8 sessions due to two public holidays.

c) No class during recess week & week 7;

d) For Thursday’s Hip Hop Fit, there is no class during week 8 (7 Oct) due to booking of SRC Dance Studio by OSHE.

e) For Friday’s Cardio Aerobics and ABT classes, there is no class in week 5 (10 Sept) and week 12 (5 Nov) due to Hari Raya Puasa and Deepavali respectively.

Courses Description:

Yogilatez (Monday & Thursday 5-6pm, SRC Dance Studio) blends the best of Yoga and Pilates, as Yoga generates endurance and flexibility, while Pilates creates core strength, precise alignment, and muscular coordination.

Cardio Aerobics (Monday 5-6pm, Staff Club Dance Studio) is back to the basics with the combination of floor aerobics, steps and toning exercise. It is easy to follow and maximizes calories burning potential.

LatinoRobics (Monday 6-7pm, SRC Dance Studio) combines adrenaline-pumping aerobics exercise with the hot sizzling music and movements of Latin dancers such as Salsa, Cambia, Mambo. Specially designed for beginners, LatinoRobics elevates energy, reduces stress, and burns calories effectively.

Kickboxing (Thursday 5-6pm, MPSH2) combines elements of boxing, martial arts and aerobics to provide overall physical conditioning and toning, and to enhance heart-lung functioning.

Hip Hop Fit (Thursday 6-7pm, SRC Dance Studio) dancing funky movements choreographed by our instructor to the rhythmic beat of hip hop music. This is a class specially designed for people interested in learning hip hop dance and keeping a healthy lifestyle.

ABT (Friday 5-6pm, SRC Dance Studio) aims to produce noticeable results in the areas of toning, conditioning, endurance and calorie expenditure.

Pilates (Tuesday 6-7pm, SRC Dance Studio) focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep torso muscles.

Promotion:

if you sign up for any course, $6 instead of $10 to join us in our 3-hour long mass aerobics workout – Hyperjive 2010, on 21st August, 2-6pm (free t-shirts, goodie bags, lucky draws).

10-11 August, 10am-6pm, walkway outside Central Library. Please register early to avoid disappointment.
